Nattie Jean was born into a musical family in Breckenridge, MN and raised in Fargo, ND. With parents who played in a band together throughout her childhood, there was no doubt she’d catch the music bug as well. Her guitar player father and singer mother shared their love of music with their children, teaching Nattie to appreciate all genres of music and how to connect with a great song. As a singer and songwriter, Nattie Jean fully immerses herself into her music. “There’s nothing like performing and helping the audience feel what you’re feeling.” With a bold mix of country, rock and pop influences, her soulful voice and heartfelt storytelling take audiences on an emotional journey born out of a lifetime of experiences.
The band was formed around a love for blues and country-based rock music with an edge. Delta blues with a little “borrowed blues” that came back to America having been steeped in British rock and roll sensibilities, mixed with a little “twang” of Memphis and a bit of swagger from Bakersfield. Drag all that through Southern California and Midwest blue collar hard rockin’, and you get a genuine mix that only these five songwriters can provide. A true amalgamation of styles that gels into a unique blend of attitude and heaviness.
These Broken Lines is the songwriting of Brian David Detmers paired with a few friends and a host of guest musicians who help create the imaginary musical landscape to a film that exists only in the minds of those willing to participate. It is a project that knows no boundaries, and adheres to no single genre. Lyrics and vocals are present in some selections, while instrumentation is the highlight in others. Guest multi-instrumentalist Val McCallum has referred to TBL as "quite a musical journey" and "a trip and a half" while Peter Stroud has referred to the process as "good fun" and "brave". Prepare for a departure from the same ol' thing and join These Broken Lines on their musical adventure.
